Little Graduate End of the year is coming and many kindergartens are having their open day to register for year 2010 intake.

“Head start” is the slogan used to promote the idea that you need to start your child early on education – as early as possible in order for your child to learn more, and not to missed out. Sounds a bit kiasu.

Nowadays, many parents are starting to teach their children on “ABC” and “123”. They expected them to master them even before they enter Kindergarten at the age of three.

But what’s the point of sending your child to kindergarten at the age of three if your child can already master “ABC” and “123”?

Isn’t Kindergarten the official place for educating the child on “ABC” and “123”?

Parents will reply and say, “I’m just giving them a headstart”

Many parents want their children to have a head start so that they can read, do simple maths, hold a simple conversation and get A in exams.

They will buy many children books, CDs, DVDs, song and learning apparatus for their children in order for them to be the top student in Kindergarten.

They will prepare their child for Year 4 Class even though their child is only in Year 3. They will prepare their kid for Form 1 even though UPSR have yet to come.

But many parents fail to provide good and educational book for their kids when they turn teens.

Many parents fail to realize the difference between education and exam.

Many parents are always living in fear that their kid will loose out to those who are ahead, and put pressure on their child to perform like a Form 1 students while the child is only in Standard 6.

“Head Start” – what is it really all about?

Deuteronomy 16:18-20
"Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the LORD your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.  Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you”
